Ok, so first off, apologies for being totally crap and not posting anything over the summer. In my defence, every time I sat down to write, something random happened that stopped me. Mostly my kids were the ones doing the aforementioned random something, that I then had to fix, but I did also catch covid, which wiped me out for a while too. Anyway, I’m better now and the kids are back to college (well one is) and so we’re all getting back into a routine, which should hopefully reduce the number of random somethings they get themselves into that I then have to fix.
I effing love this time of year. It’s definitely my favourite season. In my opinion, it’s a better version of New Year. Lots of making plans, list writing and stationery buying. I especially love buying stationery. I wish the kids still wanted to buy pencil cases. ** Sighs **
If you didn’t know the “Bouquet of Sharpened Pencils” title refers to a line from You’ve Got Mail when Tom Hanks offers to send a bunch of sharpened pencils to Meg Ryan because it’s Back to School/Work time of year.
Ok, so whilst I was struck down with covid I watched a lot of Friends. Which is when I clocked the outfit shown below. It’s the episode where the car backfires. What you can’t see in this pic, because I couldn’t find a pic that included the whole outfit, is that they’re 7/8s trousers and she’s paired them with some neat little loafers too. I want the entire outfit. It also happens to tick a lot of the Autumn Trend boxes too.

Of the autumn trends out there, some are fairly standard, faux fur, sequins etc. But there are some exciting bits too, or to be more exact, loads of stuff I love is trendy this season.
The key looks breakdown roughly like this – biker jackets, bright colours, tailoring, leopard print, sequins, everything maxi – coats and dresses, sheer stuff. Right up my street. Or maybe it’s a bad thing, all the stuff I like being trendy. I’ll mull that over. Oh and cowboy boots, which I like the idea of but have no idea how to style.
Whilst on my sick bed, I compiled a little mood board of looks I’d like to put together for my “Back to Work/Autumn” look and I had a think about any gaps in my wardrobe that needed plugging. This is what I came up with:
Clockwise from left:
Reiss Hailey satin shirt in aquamarine £198
Reiss Bexton loafer were £178 now £70
Narciso Rodriguez for Zara leather bag £149
Weekday Arrow Low Straight Jeans £40
Reiss Agnes belted wool coat in pink £348
Free People Vegan Ranch Boots £68
Clockwise from left:
Skims Cotton Jersey Mock Neck Tank in Soot £34
Narciso Rodriguez for Zara Red Dress £149 – Out of stock currently, worrying that there is no link anymore.
H&M Grey Cigarette Trousers in Dark Grey £17.99
Cotswold Trilby Hats in Green £35.95
Reiss Tallis Leather Biker Jacket in Black £378
Mango Faux Leather Trousers £35.99
All of the above is subject to change and may well be added to/returned at the whim of the author.
If you’re thoroughly bored, you could even have a look at my Autumn/Winter 2022 Style board over on Pinterest, which has got the full version of everything I want. You can find me at Antwacky.blog.
We’ll go into most of these items in more detail later. At the time of writing the red Narciso Rodriguez for Zara dress is out of stock – I fear I may have already missed the boat on this one already. Stupid covid. The whole Narciso Rodriguez line for Zara needs a blog of its own. It’s all ace. Or have a look here.
I’ve also been lucky enough to have had some glasses gifted to me by @wearglas to complete my Back to Work look – find their full back-to-work range here. If you’re not sure which glasses suit you, you could also check out my blog from May which gives some top tips, you can find it here. If you decide to make a purchase from Glas, you can get an extra 20% off by using code LISA20 at checkout. You’re welcome.
So I promise I’ll be back with regular posts from now on and we’ll get into the above in a bit more detail soon. I’ve got loads of other bits we need to discuss too.
Have a good week. xx
