The eyes have it

Or “had it” in my case. Things that have changed massively in the last six months – my brows – I used to have a Frida Kahlo mono brow going on, but as I’ve gotten older, my eyebrows have gone baldy in places. I swear they’ve gotten thinner too.

Plus I’m totally getting ‘hoods’. Gravity has gotten the better of my lids and they are dead droopy. My eyeliner always ends up on my eye lids. Attractive. Not.

Oh and the bags, lets not forget the bags. More like matching luggage these days. Even my gym instructor told me I looked tired today.

Ah, ageing, the gift that keeps on giving. However, ageing is still a privilege denied to many, so I’m gonna quit moaning, be thankful and weigh up my options.

Let’s start with the baldy brow issue.

For those of us too chicken to get microblading, there are a variety of growth serums. I’ve been looking at different serums to regrow my brows, and this one gets the most positive feedback.

RapidBrow Eyebrow Enhancing Serum £37

Whilst we’re doing brows, here are a couple of other tools of the trade, that I would highly recommend.

Tweezerman Signature Red Slant Tweezer £23

Even though mine are going baldy, I do still have to pluck some areas. Don’t fuck about with anything else, it will just be a waste of money in the long run. These are award winning for a reason, they’re the best. You can get them in Boots too. They also do really pointy tweezers if that’s your bag.

Glossier Boy Brow in brown £14

I love this. It’s a sort of wax that you brush on that makes your brows look thicker. It works too. Comes in 5 shades and it’s cheap as chips.

This is sort of related to my latest eye woes, and I thought of it because, it too, is as cheap as chips, if you haven’t already, you really should buy this…

Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara £9.99

It’s brilliant. Makes lashes look loads longer and thicker, without clumping them all together. I gave this to my god daughter as part of her birthday present and massively increased my street cred with her, because just as I gave it, it was trending on TikTok. #downwiththekids

Ok, moving on to the overhanging lid situation. I don’t know of any ‘tweakments’ that fix this. As far as I’m aware you have to go under the knife to fix the overhanging hood. There are a couple of other options though…

FaceGym from £10

I’m probably a bit late to the part on this one. FaceGym offers a range of facial workouts, skincare and tools to improve muscle firmness. They do have studio workouts, but I tried the Brow and Eye Lift online workout (£10). I’ll admit I was really sceptical at first, but I was home alone one night so I thought I’d give it whirl. Worst case scenario you have a home facial right? It’s a half hour session and you spend 15 mins on one side of your face, and 15 mins on the other. I swear, after half the session one eyebrow was noticeably higher than the other and it worked on the eyelid droop too. Honest. There was a nice relaxed atmosphere during the workout too and the instructor was really encouraging. There are other online workout sessions (I’ve tried the facial sculpt too, which was lovely). They have a line of skincare and facial sculpting tools, which I haven’t tried, but I can 100% vouch for the online sessions. I’m doing another Eye Brow lift class later tonight.

Ren Keep Young and Beautiful Instant Brightening Beauty Shot Eye Lift £34 down to £24

I have been meaning to try this for a while and then India Knight wrote a column on Sunday about the face version (Keep Young and Beautiful Firming and Smoothing Serum) and it reminded me that this was on my list of things to buy. This helps with the lifting and the tightening apparently. It’s currently sold out, probably because it gets gazillions of rave reviews. Although someone needs to have a word with their marketing department – “Keep young and beautiful” – WTF? If I just saw this on a shelf, the name would definitely put me off. “Be the Best version of yourself” I could maybe get on board with.

And finally, this gadget helps with bags and the dreaded eyelid droop.

Fraicheur Paris Eye Globes £59.99 (in coral glitter)

It’s all about the cryotherapy these days darlings. Stick your ice globes in the freezer for 20 mins, then massage your saggy bits (technical beauty term) for 15 mins to see tightened results. The cold temperatures trigger an anti inflammatory response, which reduces puffiness and droopiness and makes skin look more taut. I can’t open my Instagram feed without these popping up. I love a beauty gadget as much as the next girl, but if you’re skint, you could always put some tablespoons in the freezer instead, which would probably do the job just as nicely.

Have a top week.x
