Which is a quote from Mary Quant. I’m not entirely sure what this quote means exactly – does it mean until your knees give way, or until they go droopy?
I never get my knees out. Except maybe on holiday. I don’t like them. Although as I’m getting older, I’m starting to be more thankful that they just work, rather than worrying about what they look like. So I’m having a rethink about the whole keeping my knees hidden thing, and I’m considering celebrating the fact that they work instead.
Whilst I was mulling that thought over, I happened to have a night out in Liverpool. I love looking at what everyone’s wearing when I go up. Scousers are often early adopters of new trends and they always have some of their own regional variants too. I saw one lady, who was about my age, wearing an outfit that convinced me that I should be getting my legs out. The lady in question was wearing a black lacy bodysuit and pair of black shorts and she was totally killing it. Me and my friends noticed her straight away and all commented. She had a great figure, but it was her attitude really that made the outfit work.
Since then, I’ve become a bit obsessed with the outfit, so I’ve been trying to recreate it. Here are my options.
The body the Liverpool lady was wearing looked very like the one below. Looks ace on her, but it is a lot of flesh on show isn’t it? Might work with a jacket though.
Pink Boutique Black Lace Bodysuit £27

Ok, so whilst I do love that, it does require some bottle, so maybe this.
Boohoo Eyelash Lace Bodysuit was £20 now £17

Or maybe this one. (I realise I’m starting to bottling it more and more, and picking things with more cover each time).
Lipsy Lace Long Sleeved Body £42

This could just the right amount of cover.
Hush Peek A Boo Top was £35 now £10

Now for the shorts. City shorts will work I think. These are on my shortlist (no pun intended)
Loving these, quite long, not too revealing. But are they too “Ain’t Half Hot Mum”? (if you’re old enough to remember that)
Hush City Tailored Shorts were £55 now £35

Or these? Linen though. Too creasy?
& Other Stories Tailored Linen Shorts £65

These may be the winners. Too short? (Although I’m a shorty, so they could be longer on me).
Jigsaw Poplin Shorts were £60 now £48

Then I came across this outfit and thought it might be a good compromise…
& Other Stories Relaxed Linen Jacket £95
& Other Stories Linen Shorts £65

Incidentally, I have absolutely nowhere to wear this outfit to. Nor am I sure I’ve got the guts to wear it. Seems incidental to my quest.
Antwacky Attire
This is going to be a new bit of the blog where I post pictures of what I’ve been wearing each week. I’ve added it in, because it occurred to me that I should be posting pics of my outfits. However I hate taking pics of myself, so I thought this might work as a compromise, until I find the guts to post pics of myself. The yellow skirt was ironed honest guv, I took the picture after I’d worn it. Here is what I’ve been wearing….
