The best spring dresses for April 12th

I do love planning an outfit, I’m not kidding when I say, instead of counting sheep, I plan outfits. So, it’s a given that I’m alreeady planning an outfit for April 12th. When we can actually sit in a beer garden once more.

I know I said I was gonna write a post about spring/summer trends, but this topic felt more timely. I’ll do it next week, honest guv.

Actually, this post is about prairie dresses and tiered skirts, which are both very on trend this season, so I am covering spring trends a tad. I think a prairie dress would make a great April 12th outfit. You can add layers underneath and wear with boots. etc. so you can keep warm in the aforementioned beer garden. Then, come summer, you can wear with flip flops/trainers. Plus, it’s a very forgiving silhouette, for those of us who are missing the gym.

Lets dive right in and have a look at the options.

Loving both of these from ASOS…

ASOS Y.A.S maxi dress with tiered skirt in zebra print was £70, now £23.60

ASOS Y.A.S maxi dress with tiered skirt and volume sleeves in mixed ditsy floral dress £60

Hush have a sale on. It’s pretty good too. This gets my vote…

Hush Lianne Printed Shirt Dress was £79 now £50

& Other Stories have loads of options, but I love this colour.

& Other Stories Flounced Tiered A-Line Mini Dress £95

ME+EM have got loads of maxi skirts this season, this is one of my favourites.

ME+EM Camo Floral Tiered Skirt £175

Look at this from Florence and Fred. I’ve seen it in the flesh, and it’s very lightweight. But for £14, who cares. Layer up. With a biker and DMs now, it would look belting. If you can’t get to Tesco, you can buy some F&F stock via Next. Weird but true. As well as loads of other brands – Mint Velvet, Boden, Armani beauty (touch), loads. basically.

F&F Multi Pink Floral Print Tie Neck Mini Dress £14

If it all feels like too much, and you need to ease yourself back in, just stay in your trackies and wear some statement earrings instead. These are the just the job. In fact, just buy these anyway.

Sezane Charlie earrings £50

This popped up in my Instagram feed last week and I was kinda mesmerised. It’s a shawl with sleeves. But you can make it in to all this other stuff. Well, as long as the other stuff are variations of a cardie or scarf like.

Freya Harper Scarf £30, currently 40% off

I bought it in black, because I figured it could be an extra layer for my April 12th outfit. Which will probably be the pink Tesco dress, or maybe the Hush dress. However I can’t decide whether to keep this or send it back.

PROS
  • It’s an extra layer. I can totally see it over a biker jacket.
  • If it gets too hot it’s small enough to fit in a bag.
  • I like the drapey-ness of it.
CONS
  • Chances of getting tangled up in it after a few scoops are high.
  • Actually, the comedy element of the above does appeal. Moving this to the pro list.
  • It might be tricky to make it in to anything other than a scarf.
  • Is it antwacky?

I don’t know, I really don’t. I used to know this stuff. If you’re reading this and you have an opinion, can you let me know please? At the time of writing I’ve got 10 days to send it back, so let me know your opinion soon.

Next time, I really will do spring trends. Probably. Have a good week. Let me know about the cardie/scarf thing. Please. Oh and let me know what you’re planning on wearing on 12th April too.
