It seems I’m a bit late to the party on the whole “WFH Chic” thing, but hopefully my late arrival will mean I’ve had more time to have a proper think about clothing options, and therefore make a better contribution.
So basically, in order to nail the WFH chic, your clothes need to feel like pjs but look like you’re ready to go out. How hard can it be? Very, as it turns out.
You’re starting point for this look is Hush. The brand was started by Mandy Watkins, an Aussie who moved to the UK and was so traumatised by our winters that she started her own label to provide her with a wardrobe to wear while hiding from the British weather. So I guess she’d know what she’s talking about.
All of these outfits look put together, without looking dead “efforty”. Plus, most people probably have few pieces of each of these outfits and with maybe one purchase could pull together a whole look. I always buy the harems because they look equally as good with trainers (ok, who am I kidding, slippers) as they do with heels.
Next up, the t-shirt. Now, as a rule, I don’t do slogan ts. But I have all of the ones pictured below. Apart from the Sundowner one, odd that I missed it, but it is sold out – so maybe that’s why. These are all made by a brilliant local brand called FWP by Rae. They make other designs too. All of the clothes are made with ethically produced cotton T-shirts and sweatshirts are manufactured under fair working and fair wage practices. Make yourself look put together for a Zoom chat. Tick.
Trousers – Again, they need to feel like PJs bottoms but not look like them. M&S seems to be doing it best.

Jumpsuits again are another answer on the WFH outfit conundrum. They’re dead comfy plus they tick the “look smart” box, so you can go out in them too. There is one teeny tiny drawback, that do put a lot of people off – when you need to go for a wee you have to take all your clothes off. It takes a lot of time, but hey, who hasn’t got time to take their jumpsuit off at the mo? Just make sure you lock the door. I had a very nasty experience once….. I’ve just ordered this one from Asos.

And a couple of pointers on what to put on your feet. Only one way to go in my opinion – see Veja. Their trainers are made out of ecological and sustainable materials and they make a vegan range. What’s not to like? If that’s not enough, they’ll work with dresses, and all WFH outfits. So, erm, everything basically. Apart from when you’re indoors maybe, so go with Birkenstocks. These are my picks.

I’ve saved the best til last, I just had to include these. Ultimate. Working. From. Home. Chic.
Party Pajama Set with Feathers in Black $320

Oh, god, I love these. I mean totally, completely love them. Have done for about two years now. But the eye watering price tag has always put me off. They never seem to go in the sale either. You could definitely wear these around the house and totally kill the WFH chic thing, then, when the ban is lifted, wear the trousers with a blazer and a sexy vest type thing (which in all honesty had always been my plan). I mean christ, you couldn’t sleep in the things. It would look as though a bird had been killed in your bed by the morning. I guess that’s why they’re called party pyjamas. My one complaint is that they spell pyjamas wrong. Oh and the price. The price is obscene. But one day they will be mine. Oh yes they will be mine.
Next week I’ll be writing about the dos and dont’s of clearing out your wardrobe. Stay safe x
