Things to keep you occupied in a lockdown

So obviously there are very serious things happening and a post about fashion seems very trivial and inappropriate, but it’s cheering me up and stopping me from indulging in some mild domestic violence (joke). Before I wrote this post, I wrote a list of all the things I should/could do in a lock down. My list looks a bit like this – learn spanish, spring clean, garden, write a will (still haven’t done this), clear out my wardrobe. I’ve no idea why I put gardening on the list, I loathe gardening, it’s just housework, but outside and with worms.

And so far I’ve achieved, erm, well writing the list seems to be the main achievement, so far, in all honesty.

Instead I have elected to to go shopping online for clothes I don’t need. Which is why I haven’t achieved any of the stuff on the above list in the first place. But I also reason, that now’s the perfect time to while away the hours browsing the virtual rails. There are pros and cons to online shopping. Pros – you can drink gin while you browse, you don’t have to wear a bra, or make up. Cons – sizing can be hit and miss, which means sending things back, oh and there is one massive con that I need to make you aware of – the pissed purchase – it’s usually something dead expensive, of great nostalgia and impossible to return. You have been warned.

To aid in my new past time, the shops have very obligingly put lots of sales on too. This is what I’ve been browsing/buying….

Whistles Ari Slip on Mule was £139 now £55

I ordered these in both the black and the white and they are indeed very lovely. Sadly, I can’t get the things to stay on my sodding feet. And no, I’m not one of those people who can’t keep flip flops on (seriously there are people like this), I am a very proficient flip flop wearer, but I can’t keep these mules on my feet at all. So they’re going back. Maybe that’s why they’re in the sale in the first place?

Leather. Still everywhere, made in to everything. how do you wash it though? Leather shirt, doesn’t seem that practical to me – or am I turning in to my mum? So I ordered these instead, will let you know what they’re like when they arrive.

Mint Velvet Black Faux Leather Trousers were £69 now £29

Bright trousers are also very much a thing this season, which is serendipitous because I love them and ordered the following..

Hampstead Wide Leg Trousers – emerald green were Ā£90 now Ā£45

Boden Sequin Flower earrings £30

Anyone who knows me, know that these are not me at all. Don’t know what was thinking – (see pissed purchasing). They haven’t arrived yet as there was a waiting list for them. For earrings. Strange, but true. But hey, given that I spend most of my time in Zoom chats now, maybe this is the way to jazz up my outfit. Or maybe I’ll just send them back. I’ll let you know when I get my hands on them, which might be tomorrow.

And things I’ve been looking at, but haven’t bought yet. Square toe/thong things are very trendy this summer, the below are my favourites, I think…

Zara Leather high heel sandals with square toe £59.99 and Asymmetric leather sandals with square toe £59.99

Like I say, I’ve yet to make a purchase on this one. For this read, just as I make a decision, they will sell out and then I’ll spend ages tracking them down. Which is exactly what happened with this…

Zara brown leather maxi clutch

Totally sold out. FFS.

Next time, I think I might discuss the new colourway options for Spring. Wait, not sure I can pull that phrase off, maybe I should stick with a phrase along the lines of.. next time we can have a look the new colour combinations to try for Spring. Also, here is some homework/something to look at if you’re really bored – have a look at the hashtag #neckmess on Instagram – I’m strangely obsessed and currently in the process of building my own. Watch this space….
