Spring trends part 1 – 70s

The biggest influence this Spring is 70s. Big collars, cardies, flares, suede, leather and denim. Heaps of denim. Think Bianca Jagger and you’ve pretty much nailed it.

A couple of weeks ago I had a brief flirtation with the tank top. Almost made a purchase too, but every time I thought about how I’d wear it, the image in my head was at the “Scooby Doo” end of the 70s spectrum, and once I had that image in my head, I couldn’t unsee it. I do still like this though..

Brora Fair Isle Wool Tank Top, Silver £98

On to other things 70s. The big collar, I’m on the hunt for a satin big collar blouse, so far &other stories is the closest. But I do totally heart the Albus Lumen one (well apart from the price).

And other Stories Iridescent Button Satin Blouse £55 -this has almost sold out

Marks and Spencer always do good leather and suede and this year their offerings are top drawer. And both of the below have pockets. POCKETS. Fecking love pockets, me. The leather one has almost sold out, so get your skates on if this one ticks your boxes.

Denim. On the catwalks, Celine seemed to do this best this season. So this is what you need to have in the back of your mind if you fancy some 70s denim.

Asos has eleventy billion denim skirts. And Gap, who I haven’t thought about for ages, have the flared denim thing totally covered. But I think I may devote an entire post to denim alone. Watch this space.

A little look at what I’ve bought so far…

Abercrombie & Fitch V neck cardigan reduced from £52 to £36.99

The above wasn’t reduced when I bought it. Hate that. Don’t think I’ve bought anything else. Scratches head. That can’t be right.

I’ll post about the other spring trends next week. And see if I can remember what else I’ve bought. Until then… Oh, if you see a satin blouse in a bright colour with a big round collar do give me a shout.
