This purchase wasn’t inspired by anything in particular, I’ve always just loved tulle skirts. Probably because it’s a good excuse to get in touch with my inner fairy. I should also add, that although in my last post I claimed that I’m addicted to tulle skirts, that’s not entirely true, as in all honesty, I’m addicted to jumpsuits. If there was a JA (Jumpsuits Anonymous) I would definitely have to sign up.

I digress. Where were we? Tulle skirts. What I really like about them is that you can wear them with a shirt and jacket and you’ve instantly jazzed up your outfit. Oh, and it does do that thing that everyone bangs on about, it takes your outfit from day to night. In all honesty I need to do this about twice a decade, but there is a good chance you work in an office, in which case this is probably a bit more of a priority.

So first of all, you don’t want it to look like a bridesmaid dress, you want it to be a bit punk. I ordered four or five before I found “the one”. Here is a sample of the ones that didn’t quite make the grade for me.

Etsy Long Tulle High Waisted Circle Skirt £69.40

I loved the above skirt as it goes, but it was way too long and stuck out just a fraction too much on me, which tipped it in to bridesmaid territory. So back it went. On a taller person, this would have looked ace. Next up cheap as chips from BooHoo..

Boo Hoo Tulle Midi Skirt was £22 now £17.60

Again, this stuck out way too much on me, but, and this is a long story, I left it too late to return it, so it’s now stuck in my wardrobe gathering dust. And then I clocked this..

Simple Moderne Lace Overlay Skirt was £67.34. now £42.09

To use a quote from The Three Bears “and it was just right”, didn’t stick out too much, in fact it has more of a pleat to it and it’s not too long. Although I have been known to stand on the hem in heels. This is what I’ve styled it with so far.
